Im trying to put renthal bars onto an old GT650R. My main problem is that being an R model, the throttle and clutch cables are about 2 inches too short. Has anyone had this problem, or know if I can get GT Commet or GV cables to fit??

Cable and hoses from a GT650 will fit the GT650R, and as they are longer to reach the high rise handlebars, they will fit to your renthals easy enough.

hey kungfuzing , even with the longer cables from the gt you may need to reroute them a bit to get a bit of extra length out of them as the renthals are wider than stock gt bars and once fitted at full lock they pull the accelerator cables and can cause the trottle to pull on or jam , but with a bit of fiddling around i managed to sort this out , the other thing is the brake lines may not reach from the r model and the gt ones are okay but i fitted some HEL braided lines to mine and ordered them 2 inches longer than stock gt ones and the fit is perfect also the brake performance is much better , happy fightering

The renthal bars are fitted and working well. I had to use a spare brake line from the lower section of the front brake to reach the bars! Ive put the front faring back on the front as I've moved house during the build, so had to get it roadworthy. Ive moved the front subframe forward an inch and a half to allow the cables a free travel on the new bars. Also just for looks I've chopped the origional screen in half. As soon as the internet is connected to the new place I'll upload some photo's, but as for now I'll have to keep typing from internet cafe's. DAMN CHRISTMAS IS DELAYING MY INTERNET CONNECTION!
